Istanbul-based Belqees TV’s reporter has been subjected to severe assault by unknown gunmen in Marib province, east of Yemen.
According to the attacked correspondent, gunmen assaulted him with baton sticks while trying to cover the incident of victims who were killed and injured in a rocket attack carried out by the Houthi militia in the province.
Al-Taweel added that he was threatened by the gunmen who confiscated his mobile phone and work ID card, and later clashed with the hospital guards.
Belqees channel has strongly condemned the assault, calling on the officials in Marib to take responsibility for protecting all channel staff in their areas.
In a statement issued recently, the channel called on the concerned authorities in the province to pursue the aggressors and provide protection to its correspondent who additionally received threats after the attack.
