The Houthi militia on Sunday released a Yemeni journalist after nearly 20 months of abduction in the rebel-held capital Sana’a following tribal mediation.

Tribal mediation has succeeded in releasing the journalist, Ibrahim Mohammad Ali al-Majdoub, who was imprisoned in the Houthi-controlled political security prison in Sanaa, informed source emphasized.

Based on the same source, al-Majdoub accompanied by the mediation committee and a number of his relatives arrived in his home in the capital Sana'a on Sunday.

The source pointed out that the journalist's health is stable.

The Houthi militia had arrested the Yemeni journalist on 6 July 2015 from a hotel in the capital Sana'a on charges of being loyal to the government forces and the Arab coalition.

The militias are currently holding 16 Yemeni journalists in the capital Sanaa and areas under its control, while another journalist has been kidnapped by al-Qaeda since October 2015 in Mukalla, east of the country.
