The so-called security belt in Yemen’s interim capital, Aden, today released the journalist Hani al-Junaid, who- along with two others- was arrested on Tuesday.
Rabie' al-Junaid, brother of journalist Hani al-Junaid, stressed that the security forces in Aden released his brother today after the release of other two journalists.
Hossam Radman, Dubai TV correspondent, Majid al-Shuaibi, Abu Dhabi TV correspondent and journalist Hani al-Junaid had been abducted while on their way to offer condolences to the family of the assassinated political activist Amjad Abdulrahman on Tuesday in the district of Crater in the port city of Aden.
According to sources close to the journalists, the perpetrators turned out to belong to the so-called security belt in Aden, and the three journalists were transferred to Camp 20 where they were tortured and insulted by the security belt forces, which charged them with atheism.
After efforts made by Aden’s security director yesterday, the security forces agreed to release al-Shuaibi and Radman, while Al-Junaid remained held until Wednesday noon.
There was a widespread discontent among human rights activists and society against such violations by the security forces.
