Ar WJWC condemns targeting of headquarters of Al-Shamou’a & Akhbar Al-Youm Newspaper Foundation
Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) condemns in the strongest terms the aggressive action against the headquarters of Al-Shamoua & Akhbar Al-Youm Newspaper Foundation and the home of its director general Saif Al-Hadhri in Yemen’s interim capital Aden on November 11, 2017.
In this context, Women Journalists Without Chains expresses its deep concern about unprecedentedly serious violations of press and media freedoms, that threatens the lives and safety of journalists and media professionals as a whole.
WJWC calls upon the legitimate government and the concerned authorities in Aden province to investigate the incident and quickly arrest the perpetrators and bring them to trial for their deterrent punishment, urging them to play their role in protecting media professionals.
It also calls on all human rights organizations and advocates of freedom of opinion and expression to condemn such criminal acts against journalists.
