Houthi militias release writer al-Madhaji

Militias of the Houthis on Sunday released Executive Director of Sana'a Center of Strategic Studies Majed al-Madhaji hours after being detained from his house in Sana'a City.

The brother of al-Madhaji, Mazen, said that militias of the Houthis detained his brother from his house in Sana'a with the aim of probing into him.

"Nobel Prize laureate Tawkol Karman said on Twitter that the fascist Houthi militias abducted the writer and journalist Majed al-Madhaji from his house in Sana'a City, expressing utmost solidarity with Majed al-Madhaji.

Al-Madhaji is the executive director of Sana'a Center for Strategic Studies and his is writer who opposes arbitrary measures taken by Houthi militias against rights and freedoms in Yemen.

It is worth reclaiming that the militias of the Houthis and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh took over the capital Sana'a on September 21, 2014. They occupied all institutions and government facilities including security and military camps.

They launched a civil war across Yemen after they stormed into southern governorates on March 2015. Thousands of Yemenis were killed and wounded, and the state infrastructure was largely destroyed.
